We Cannot Rest Until Everyone Can Rest - May 6

  • First Presbyterian Church 12 West 12th Street New York, NY, 10011 United States (map)

We cannot rest until everyone can rest

A special shabbat gathering inspired by Black Women’s Blueprint

As Jews, we embrace Shabbat, a day of rest every week of our lives, a protected time and space to reset, repair and restore. But, we cannot rest until all people can rest. Please gather with us for a special Shabbat, an experiential evening of Shmita*, poetry, renewal and restoration, all inspired by the Brooklyn-based organization Black Women’s Blueprint.

With special guests poet Erica Wright, community organizer and chaplain Liz Aeschlimann and midwife Sylvie Blaustein. Musical accompaniment by singer Judi Williams. An evening led and conceived by members of the Black Lives Matter chevrutah.

* In this year of Shmita (“release”), we are instructed to let the land rest, share our harvest and cancel all debts. “The Shmita year invites us to rethink the world that we live in and to tune into the ways in which we can actively make a difference.” Shmita Project.

Come and join us!

Please come in person - windows and balcony doors will be opened for ventilation.

Please Note

*This event will be available on Zoom
