The New Shul Youth

For our students who’ve completed their Bar/Bat Mitzvah experience, but aren’t off to college yet, we’ve created a dynamic program to maintain and deepen their connection to our community and Rabbi Zach, and to put their Jewish wisdom into action to better the world around them. On eight Sunday mornings over the year, the teens will meet with Rabbi Zach at a member’s home for bagels, questions, and shmoozing over contemporary issues rooted in Jewish wisdom. On six Saturday evenings throughout the year, the teens will meet to deliver food and essential items to New Yorkers in need.

Our son had a truly meaningful evening on Saturday night. He came home saying that “it felt good”; being there for others can feel good, as I know in my own work. He also loved being with those kids and wishes it were more often than once a month (!). Thank you so much for exposing him to this world of civic engagement, and for the warm atmosphere you create with the kids.
