The Battle of the Briskets was our hugely successful spring fundraiser. With over 100 people attending, we raised $6,350 to benefit The New Shul. The 15 chefs, all members, included: Renee Baigell, Phelim Dolan, Jeanette Eichenwald, Holly Gewandter, Cathy Gins, Gordon Grinberg, Kathi Jacob, Janice Moses, Mark Philips, Valerie Sherman, Jill Stern, Jennifer Strent, Melanie Sylvan, Maia Wechsler, and Joanne Wilson.

The celebrity judges were: Gail Simmons from Top Chef, Ed Levine from www.seriouseats.com, and Joshua Neuman the publisher of Heeb Magazine: The New Jew Review.

All the chefs were winners. Special awards went to the following:

Honorable mentions: Maia Wechsler and Kathi Jacob
Third Place: Holly Gewandter
Second Place: Joanne Wilson
First Place Golden Shmaltz Award: Cathy Gins
People's Choice Award: Mark Philips

The event was a lot of fun and we left very full.
